POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Lead Discovery Group is responsible for biochemical and cell-based assay development, compound library management, and providing custom engineering solutions to support these activities. We are seeking a student intern to join the Automation and Engineering Group. She or he would engage in a range of activities to support our lab automation efforts and support the high throughput screening activities within Lead Discovery. Projects might include developing a liquid handler QC process, electronics assembly (PCB assembly, soldering, etc.), and light programming/scripting. Additionally, she or he will have the opportunity to learn how to design objects in SolidWorks and subsequently fabricate them through 3D printing. She or he will be expected to document her/his projects and to present on them at the end of the internship.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
  • The summer intern is expected to have an interest in mechanical and/or electrical engineering. An interest in the life sciences/drug discovery is a plus.

  • Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor s degree and have completed at least their sophomore year or be a graduate level student pursuing either a PharmD or Master s degree; for Bachelor s and Master s degree students, a major in a engineering field is preferred.
