As an Associate Director- Operations working on the Translational Research and early Clinical (TREC) team, you will be empowered to work on operations side of multiple projects going on in different therapeutic areas and help move it from early clinical stages to late phase in clinical trails, and a typical day will include:


To develop and oversee implementation of non-pipeline strategic initiatives and business operations needs specifically supporting the Translational & Early Clinical Group (TREC).
  • Facilitates and manages business operations and identified non-pipeline priorities for functions within TREC including cross-functional business initiatives with project planning, communication and implementation in a global matrix environment.
  • Supports specific members of TREC functions by managing operational aspects of platform development studies and driving forward CDAs and contracts
  • Provides input to the TREC Communication and Information management plan and implements specific aspects as relevant
  • Aligns TREC business strategies and plans with R&D and corporate initiatives.


  1. Take a lead or supportive role in cross functional, global business initiatives that assist TREC with accomplishing its goals
  2. Manage business operational aspects of platform development studies (i.e. not human studies) e.g. compound transfer for preclinical studies
  3. Manage the contracts process for all TREC functions by centralizing requests and shepherding TREC members through legal/contracting process. Includes driving forward CDAs and contracts with external vendors & KOLs for platform development studies (including non-clinical/translational)
  4. Facilitate key TREC meetings; leadership of Open Hours and Clinical Protocol Synopsis Review (CPSR) meetings. Includes overall meeting management, including follow-up with teams to provide clear minutes, capturing management decisions, and archiving documentation
  5. Interface with Takeda Finance to enable TREC budgetary objectives and provides support for headcount & contractor tracking/reporting as needed
  6. Work with TREC departments and R&D Communications to provide input to the TREC Communication and Information Management Plan and implements functional-specific aspects
  7. Manage TREC Collaboration SharePoint Site, ensuring effective and efficient collaboration within the TREC and with cross-divisional/functional stakeholders
  8. Identify process improvement opportunities and initiate and manage plans to complete the improvement initiative.


  • Bachelor s degree in science or business related field, MBA also desired
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience. Previous drug development experience is preferred (e.g. Clinical Research, Regulatory, CMC, or BDM or other development related function)
  • 2+ years experience as a project manager with experience in dealing with multiple complex projects/programs leading in a global environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, build strong relationships across all levels and facilitate excellent team leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills with a proven track record of influencing others
  • Must be able to identify business problems/ risks/ issues and facilitate issue resolution and risk mitigation
  • Clinical experience a plus


  • Access to transportation to attend various meetings held in proximity of the Takeda offices.
  • Ability to fly to various meetings at investigator, vendor or regulatory sites
  • Some international travel will be required.
