Here, everyone matters and you will be a vital contributor to our inspiring, bold mission. As a Director, Operations Planning & Strategy working on the Vaccine Operations team, you will be empowered to make meaningful contributions, and a typical day will include:


  • Develops and maintains the network capacity strategy and risk assessment for External Operations, including DS, DP, Packaging, and Raw Materials supply.
  • Maintains aggregate capacity and cost models used to support decision making, prioritization, and negotiation of supply agreements.
  • Assesses potential changes within the network to support strategic planning and decision making as well as budgeting, S&OP and resource planning
  • Participates in cross-functional initiatives (e.g., BD, Procurement, GPT scenario planning) to represent manufacturing capacity and COGS considerations
  • Represents strategic/planning concerns in technical forums, and technical/process capabilities in business forums. Comfortable in both environments.


  • Develop and oversee execution of the long term strategy to supply drug product, drug substance and specific raw materials in the manufacturing of products.
  • Maintain an integrated model of network capacity (10 year) and financials to support manufacturing strategy and investment decisions (including make vs. buy)
  • Establish cost of goods models and implement standard costing approach to monitor variances and project the impact of life cycle initiatives
  • Support the assessment, prioritization and implementation planning of opportunities for lifecycle management, yield improvement, second source, etc.
  • Working closely with Supply Chain, develop aggregate supply plans (1-3 year horizon) to support scenario assessments and S&OP process decision-making
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting and mid range planning process (1-3 yr) for all External Operations including key raw materials and external supply costs
  • Provide support and guidance to partner Functions conducting resource planning (e.g., for Quality testing) based on network activity projections
  • Support and/or lead negotiations for external supply relationships (establishing new relationships, expanding current, modifying work plans, etc.)
  • Support and/or lead negotiations of key raw material supply agreements including analysis of pricing structures, cogs impact, in partnership with Procurement
  • Partner with Commercial Operations to align demand and capacity requirements and ensure their needs are incorporated in network and product planning
  • Participate in cross functional teams (Global Product Teams, Business Development) as needed to evaluate strategies/options from a manufacturing capacity and cost perspective.
  • Develop a supply and business continuity risk assessment and make recommendations on priority initiatives to mitigate key risks


  • Bachelor s degree required, MBA or similar preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in life science manufacturing (operations, technical operations, supply chain management)
  • 5+ years of vaccines, biologics or pharmaceutical experience (Vaccines or Biologics preferred)
  • Experience with 3rd party vendor management Experience in cost/benefit analysis including risk assessments and Net Present Value
  • Excellent data manipulation skills, highly proficient in excel, ideally familiar with more advanced data analytics tools (monte carlo simulations, etc.)
  • Experience in creating and presenting business case, cost models to Executive Leadership
  • Strong leadership, communication and people management skills
  • Proven ability to navigate matrix organizations
  • Experience with Global or ex-US manufacturing preferred
