The Position
The US Device Research (USDR) Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will contribute to the USDR-US vision to explore and develop new technology, product ideas, and game-changers that may hold the potential to add value to patients and Novo Nordisk in the future within therapeutic areas covered by Novo Nordisk corporate strategy. The SDET will act as an expert in identifying data sources and interpretation of the right data in order to give essential input to the design of attractive products that balance satisfying user needs with innovative technical solutions and business potential. The SDET will be responsible for developing, implementing and applying technical tools. At the same time, the SDET will be a strong team player who contributes to development of software solutions.

Relationships
The SDET reports to a member of the USDR Management Team. Internal relationships include R&D colleagues in Seattle and in Denmark. This includes engineers, software developers, designers, user researchers, data scientists, and may include NNRCSI Seattle drug researchers. External relationships include relationships with commercial and academic collaboration partners.

Essential Functions
  • Partner with developers and engineers to build a world class test automation suite
  • Build and maintain tooling for automated test development, coverage and reporting while ensuring design and approach are scalable
  • Participate in agile development activities in time-boxed cycles
  • Work within the parameters of continuous integration with automated build, test and release structure
  • Work within a regulated design control environment
  • Partner with developers to execute manual testing where necessary
  • Work with cross functional teams to influence design for testability
  • Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of when testing is complete and possess ability to report on test status at any time
  • Generate and maintain reusable automation code. Verify new features and functionality or for regression testing to verify existing functional continuity of operational expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
Approximately 10% overnight travel.

Qualifications
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development and testing in one or more of the following: Java, Python, C++ or C#. This includes building and designing test cases, test frameworks, and automation tools. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience as appropriate
  • Experience in regulated medical device development or in other regulated field preferred
  • Knowledge of software test methodologies
  • Ability to work with other developers to ensure that systems are designed for reliability, performance and testability
  • Passion for test and automation and continuous integration
  • Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and works well with others
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn new products and technologies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Takes initiative on assigned special projects and completes projects in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong documentation skills
  • Ability to influence, communicate, and collaborate across an organization
  • Ability to develop and implement sound technical solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, and to collaborate with external parties
